"I got rejected because they want someone with experience!"

"My OJT doesn’t seem to count!"

"I didn’t even reach one year in my last job—what now?"

"How can I compete with someone who has a year of experience?"

If you’ve ever said (or screamed) any of these, HELLO, FRIEND. Welcome to the club. 🎤💥

Job hunting without experience feels like a game where the rules don’t make sense. “Need experience to get hired, but can’t get experience without getting hired—ANO ‘TO?!” 😭

I hear you. Nakakainis, pero kalma lang! Yobi’s here. 💁‍♂️

Listen: Experience is great, but it’s NOT everything. If you know how to showcase your skills, attitude, and potential, recruiters will still see your worth—kahit wala pang tambak na work history sa resume mo.

So paano natin ‘to aayusin? Let’s fix that resume, bestie.

1. Format Your Resume Like a Pro (Para Di Matabunan Agad)

First things first: Your resume should be readable and straight to the point. Recruiters scan resumes in just a few seconds—kung magulo, NEXT! agad.

Here’s the basic, no-fail resume format:

✔ Header – Name, contact info, LinkedIn (if meron)
✔ Summary – Short intro about you and what you bring to the table
✔ Skills Section – Bullet points of what you’re good at
✔ Education & Training – School, courses, certifications
✔ Experience (if any) – Internships, freelance work, side hustles
✔ Extracurricular & Volunteer Work – YES, these count!

📌 Yobi’s Tip: Keep it to ONE PAGE. Huwag nang gawing nobela. Less is more. Clarity is key.

2. Sell Your Skills Like a Marketing Pro (Without Sounding Like a Salesperson)

No job experience? That’s fine! What can you do? What are you good at? I-highlight mo ‘yan!

Examples of Transferable Skills:

✔ Mahilig mag-multitask? → Good for customer service or admin jobs!
✔ Marunong mag-Canva at editing? → That’s social media skills!
✔ Ikaw palagi ang “leader” sa school projects? → Leadership & teamwork!
✔ May experience sa MS Office, Google Docs? → Basic admin skills!

📌 Yobi’s Tip: Wag lang basta ilista ang skills—LAGYAN NG PROOF.

✔ Instead of: “Good at problem-solving.”
✔ Write: “Led a school project that solved a system issue, improving efficiency by 20%.”

See the difference? Mas solid at professional ang dating.

3. Highlight Your OJT, Internship, or Side Hustles (Lahat ‘Yan May Value!)

“Pero Yobi, ‘yung OJT ko parang wala namang kwenta…” 🤡 STOP RIGHT THERE.

Lahat ng experience—kahit raket lang—may value. It’s all about how you present it.

Example Scenarios:

✅ OJT in a small office? – Write about admin tasks, reports, or handling client concerns.
✅ Freelance tutor? – That’s communication & patience.
✅ Online selling? – You handled marketing, sales, and customer service.
✅ Ikaw ang tech support ng pamilya? – That’s basic IT experience!

📌 Yobi’s Tip: Wag lang sabihin “Intern at Company X.” I-describe mo ang ginawa mo.

✔ Instead of: “Did admin work.”
✔ Write: “Managed data entry and organized reports, improving team efficiency by 15%.”

Mas may impact, diba?

4. Write a Strong Resume Summary (Para Mapansin Ka Agad!)

Think of this as your "Love at First Sight" moment. The resume summary should hook them instantly.

Example Resume Summaries:

✔ For Fresh Grads:
"Detail-oriented Marketing graduate with experience in content creation and social media management. Passionate about digital trends and customer engagement. Eager to bring fresh ideas to a dynamic team."

✔ For Someone With Side Hustles:
"Self-motivated freelancer skilled in content writing and basic graphic design. Experienced in handling online businesses, customer service, and digital marketing. Excited to transition into a professional BPO role."

📌 Yobi’s Tip: Wag kang mahiyang i-hype ang sarili mo. If you don’t believe in you, why should they?
