Job Pitch

The Communications Manager will be responsible with assisting the Communications Specialist in managing the external and internal communications requirements of Operations. He/she will be engaged in developing the Comms Plan and will be responsible for its implementation. He/she will be tasked to ensure that content and editorials for all platforms, be it for internal or external audiences are within the standards of Sun Life branding guidelines. 

 

He/she will be responsible with coordination and collaboration between SLGS and external vendors and other departments in SLGS in the conduct of engagement events, activities and functions. These collaborations will form part in fulfilling the communications and engagement requirements of SLGS. 

 

There will be 1 Communication Manager in SLGS Operations. This employee along with the Communications Specialist will be responsible for all types of official communications in Operations such as announcements, events, promotions, job posting, etc. and the organizing of activities, events and functions to drive engagement within Operations. 

 

The Communication Manager is accountable for timely and accurate communications to Operations employees and stakeholders for all lines of business. They will also be accountable for supporting the Operations and its leaders in their communication needs, such as projects, organizational and people changes, etc.

Job Description

Specific Responsibility:

  • Accountable for timely and accurate communications to Operations and stakeholders for all lines of business. 
  • Acts as a communication consultant for our Partners.
  • Create content for all levels within Operations to provide updates and information on annual campaigns, projects and important info
  • Align and standardize communications across all LOB in Operations
  • Create video and written content for the leadership
  • Create messages to support Sun Life’s vision and values, culture and diversity and aligned with the brand identity
  • Take lead in Employee Engagement Committees and local Social committees and conduct engagement activities, events and functions for Operations
  • Offer advice and guidance around the best practice of communication in Operations to align with other Sun Life corporate forums or standards
  • Stay up to date on current industry trends, communication standards and the latest in communication technologies
  • Supporting the implementation of key projects by taking an active role in the Communications work packages with the writing and timely distribution of communications
  • Supporting Leaders in advising of the communication strategy and drafting their various communications needs (customers, operations, organizational and people changes) using different adapted media. This accountability will require this person to work closely with the leaders and key partners and apply complete discretion on what is being worked.
  • Managing the Engagement Mailbox
  • Applying communication best practices in order to make decisions on the best medium for sharing, storing and retrieving information
  • Coordinating and editing all submissions for posting
  • Authoring, editing, proof-reading to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of information
  • Understanding internal partner needs and the environment
  • Adhering to company intranet standards and maintaining SLGS standards for communication

 

  • Measure and present results of communication efforts. 
  • Refine core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of communication 
    including development, organizing and education. 
  • Publish videos and photography on company internal website (The Source) and social media 
    platform (WP) 
  • Ensure employees are engaged in company initiatives. 
  • Edit, design and publish internal publications.
